Well. This is a test of my commitment to the blog.
What made me smile?
Nothing.
If anything, I think we Arsenal fans smiled too hard at Sp*rs’ and Chelsea’s results before our game. Guess the man upstairs isn’t an Arsenal supporter after all.
What pissed me off?
How long do you have?
Honestly, we were so bad today. It felt like we were watching Covid-Arsenal. In fact, I wouldn’t be surprised at all if every one of our players were suffering from Covid during the game.
Raya decided to balance his outstanding display last week with a performance akin to someone deciding to play with a blindfold.
The defence was bad. Didn’t close down the Brighton players fast enough for the first two goals.
The midfield didn’t click. Too caught up in our own hype?
The attack continued to be wasteful. Whenever rare opportunities did come our way.
No one showed up. Not a single player.
But do you know what pissed me off most?
Fabian Hurzeler’s face.
There’s history there but I really dislike that prick.
What surprised me?
Aside from the above – a lot was made of the Rice and Bruno midfield. But it just didn’t seem to work. It’s a small sample size of course – and hopefully it’s just an off day.
To be honest I expected a difficult game, and I felt maybe there would be dropped points… but I did not expect the hammering we got.
What worries me?
Is there a blueprint here on how to beat Arsenal? Is this an off day? Or is it something more fundamental? I guess not every team can press us like Brighton did today. I do worry that our aura level has dropped.
I also notice a pattern in conceding long range goals. Will this catch on?
I’m probably overreacting – but we cannot let this happen again. Arteta cannot let this happen again. Sort it out.
What am I thinking now?
Hopefully this is just Arsenal getting it out our system and we can refocus after the interlull.
What the hell even is this league? I thought we would be the one constant in this mad season. Turns out the madness is spreading everywhere.
