Bigger. Better. Uncut.*

Guess who’s back?

Wow, it’s been a long time since I last posted. Over a year. Back then I was tired, trying to find the right balance in life with two kids, whilst also dealing with my anxiety as an Arsenal supporter.

Now… I’m tired, trying to find the right balance in life with two kids, whilst also dealing with my anxiety as an Arsenal supporter.

So yeah – a lot has changed.

But what can I say? I missed you. And I’m sure you missed me. Who am I to not give the people what they truly desire? Ok fine, fine, fine – I just need an outlet to get my crazy thoughts out whilst hiding behind the OddFather moniker.

Is the blog bigger? No. Is the blog better? If we’re strictly talking content… then that’s the same too. BUT is the blog uncut? Well, actually it always was. However, the eagle-eyed amongst you will have noticed the website and branding have had a slight change. And there’s a very good reason for this… I was bored.

I’m a bit rusty. But that doesn’t worry me too much – I’ll find my rhythm again. Or I won’t. Either way. This is happening. Anyway, does anyone even read blogs anymore? Humanity is too drawn into videos of people twerking on TikTok than they are in reading actual words on a webpage. Which all makes for a very compelling argument to start up again. Yep – I’m a little lost.

I would try the whole daily thing again but eventually I would just start repeating myself. In fact, I’m fairly certain if you were to go back you’d find I’m just recycling content over and over without realising it.

So, here’s the plan… two posts a week.

  • Mondays – Football chat
  • Thursdays – Everything else, from parenting to life ramblings.

No scripts, just whatever has been sitting in my head, probably written down the night before and published before I can talk myself out of it. I admit, this particular post was written many weeks ago – but the Arsenal side of things have been too stressful for me to put into words. Now feels like the right time to strike.

For those who’ve been around before, you’ll know this blog has had a bit of an identity crisis over the years. It started as a movie review blog, became an Arsenal blog, drifted into lifestyle and parenting, and then sort of bounced between all of them depending on my mood.

This time, I’m keeping it simple:
Football on Mondays.
Life on Thursdays.

Read what you want. Ignore what you don’t. If you enjoy both, even better.

For anyone new, this blog is semi-autonomous. What that means is, if you’ve stumbled across this randomly, you probably won’t be able to track me down (unless you’re particularly committed, in which case… fair play). And if you do know me, chances are I’ve shared this with you personally, so consider yourself part of a very exclusive club.

As for the cast:
I’m The OddFather.
My wife is Mrs OddFather (I could’ve gone with OddMother, but decisions were made).
I’ve got a 6 year old daughter – the OddDaughter.
And a 2 year old son – the OddSon.

They tend to feature quite a lot. Whether they like it or not.

That probably sets the scene well enough.

Right, well let’s begin and see where this goes. Til Monday, where I’ll hopefully have a happy Arsenal post.

The Oddfather
The Oddfather

A fairly regular guy - a father, husband, son, brother, uncle, and friend. A lifelong Arsenal fan that has also unknowingly become an Apple fanboy over the last decade. And if you haven’t realised yet - he likes to ramble… a lot.
