Well. That was a bit shit wasn’t it. You know the scenario that I laid out yesterday – about Liverpool winning and Arsenal not winning. Well that happened. In the worst possible way.
See, the Arsenal fans were keeping tabs on the Liverpool score on the screens before our game kicked off. When it looked like they would drop points they got a winner. And then another. Groans around the stadium.
No bother, the mission was to win, and that didn’t change. So we go 2-0 up after an hour of looking VERY comfortable. Then we imploded and the score ended up 2-2. Points dropped for certain. And because we have so many injuries – we literally had nothing on the bench to change it.
I feel rotten. I should have listened to everyone telling me to stay and rest at home whilst ill. But at a point I needed a pick me up for 2025, I couldn’t and can’t count on Arsenal anymore. And now I’m writing this on the train back to Birmingham with chirpy Villa fans (I’ll be posting this tomorrow). And FairPlay to them, they came back into the game and showed fight when it looked like they would lose.
In recent years I’ve been a bit more balanced with football. Arsenal have been great. And sometimes they haven’t. But I’ve largely stayed positive with the odd blip. The problem recently is someone that was close to me, who is a Liverpool fan, kind of pissed me off over the course of the year. For example:
- Always trying to start an argument about how certain Liverpool players are better than Arsenal’s.
- Yes, Salah is better than Saka right now. Would I switch them? No – because Salah is at the end of his career and Saka not even in his prime. School playground discussions. And other players fit our system.
- Going on about how Arsenal have spent more than Liverpool.
- So what? The Rice signing skewed figures but it’s not as though we’re breaking the law.
- Being gullible enough to believe social media’s portrayal of Arteta.
- Clickbait ensures anything Arteta says is taken out of context to form a narrative that this ”friend” chooses to believe in – because he does nothing but sit on social media listening to morons.
- Making out Arsenal losing our key players to injury is the same as losing benchwarmers.
- Let’s see if they could maintain a title challenge in a year where they lose Salah, Van Dijk. Instead of dropping out the top 4
- Rubbing it in when Arsenal dropped points.
- Yet when Liverpool dropped points to Newcastle I was actually complementary of how relentless Liverpool were in what I caught of the match.
Basically, Arsenal lived rent-free in his mind. And when I finally took the bait and responded – he got all pissy, ensured he had the last say, left the group chat we were on, and then blocked me on all channels. And this is someone who was supposedly a “friend”. I thought I was past the point of dealing with such childish, miserable gits. But there we go. I don’t need toxic negative people like that in my life.
Liverpool are a great side. When Arsenal were shit I wanted us to be more like Liverpool. But when the tables turned, Liverpool fans got jealous. Liverpool will win the league this year. They have no competition. But if they were up against the Arsenals or City’s of the last couple of seasons, they would finish 3rd in my opinion. IN MY OPINION. Because I’m allowed to have my opinion as an Arsenal fan – instead of just agreeing with what this Liverpool bellend says. Which is what he wanted.
Am I venting? Yes, I’m venting. Because this has been playing on my mind. Not just from a football perspective, but life in general. Adding to the narrative of a so far disappointing 2025. I need my bed.
Maybe it’s best I don’t publish this… too late. Oops.
